WELCOME TO FIRE PREVENTION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GUELPH

The University of Guelph’s Fire Division consists of two full time Fire Prevention Officers who work Monday to Friday. The Fire Division office is located on the second floor of the Trent Building on Trent Lane.

Our University was one of the only Canadian Universities that had a full time fire service with their own fire trucks.

While we still respond to all emergencies on campus, the main focus of this Division is Fire Prevention. The majority of the duties performed within the Division are maintenance of the fire safety equipment on campus. We work in conjunction with the City of Guelph Fire Department and conduct annual fire prevention inspections and assist in correcting any deficiencies.

Mock Residence Room Burn

How much time do you have to exit your residence room and evacuate a building safely during a fire? How fast will a fire spread in your room? Watch the video of our mock residence room burn and see.

Watch the Clip

It only took 5 minutes for the flames to engulf the room. When you hear the fire alarm, are you out of the building in 5 minutes?
