If you are a person with a disability and need to use an elevator to evacuate the building, proceed to the nearest stairwell and have someone (co-worker, fellow student, fire warden) relay the location of the stairwell you are in to the responding officers.  If there is a true emergency the fire department will attend to the stairwell and help you out of the building. If it is not an emergency you will not be forced to evacuate the building needlessly.
